Before modifying a query administrator has to ensure that all modified fields and parameters are not mapped inside the application. Go to ‘Usage’ tab on the edit dataset page to see all related entities. Click on entity name will lead to entity edit page, so, you can remove a mapping to the fields that you want to modify.
